HAYTOR VIEWS (8) - HOLWELL TOR
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
This cache is part of our Haytor view series which includes areas all within sight of Haytor
The cache can be found very close to an old part of the tramway which once served five quarries on Haytor Down, and now it provides about two miles of fairly easy walking. The line, the first railway in Devon, was opened in 1820 and was used to transport the quarried stone to the canal at Teigngrace. The remains of the old granite rail are visible along the length of this walk. The cache itself is hidden off from the tramway on Horwell Tor which overlooks Horwell Quarry. The cache itself is hidden in a crawl-through space and yes you will probably get dirty. You are looking for a small plastic container which is just big enough to hold a TB or geocoin, inside which is a smaller container with the GEOCACHING LOGO LOG IN IT.
PLEASE BRING WITH YOU AT LEAST ONE PEN OR PENCIL TO SIGN THE GEOCACHING LOGO LOG OR UPLOAD A PHOTO OF THE GEOCACHING LOGO LOG WITH YOUR FOUND IT LOG - REMEMBER = NO SIGNATURE ON THE GEOCACHING LOGO LOG = NO FOUND IT SMILEY EARNT
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DARTMOOR HAS MANY DIFFERENT SIZES AND QUALITIES OF PLASTIC OR METAL CONTAINERS HIDDEN ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE = THESE ARE CLASSIFIED AS DARTMOOR LETTERBOXES WHICH WILL OR WILL NOT CONTAIN A RUBBER STAMP AND SOME SORT OF LOG BOOK OR PAPER = BUT DO NOT HAVE THE GEOCACHING LOGO, SO BEWARE!
FINALLY PLEASE PLEASE REPLACE THE CACHE WHERE YOU FOUND IT - THEN THE D/T RATING WILL BE APPROPRIATE
