Ein Spaziergang durch Leopoldau, der Dir höchst verschiedene Ansichten dieses Stadtteils zeigt.
A walk through Leopoldau, which offers quite different views of this part of the city.
Das Gebiet des heutigen Leopoldau wurde schon in der Jungsteinzeit besiedelt. Der Name Alpiltowe tritt erstmals vor rd. 1.000 Jahren auf. Bis zum heutigen "Leopoldau" kannte man diesen Ort auch unter den Namen Alpoltowe, Altentoe, Alpeltow, Elpeltow, Elpeltau, Elpitau, Eylpetau, Eiylpoltau, Apoltau, Eupoltau und Eipeldau.
Wenn Du Deinen Spaziergang bei den Startkoordinaten N 48° 15.719, E 016° 26.834 beginnst, findest Du dort ein Wegkreuz (bei der Anreise mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln fährst Du am besten bis zur Station Aderklaaer Straße, Linie U1).
Die Anzahl der Kreuze in den Mosaiken ist A.
Setze nun Deinen Weg in nordwestlicher Richtung fort, um zum Leopoldauer Platz zu kommen. Der heutige Leopoldauer Platz ist der alte Dorfanger. Gleich am Beginn findest Du noch einen Teich und die Statue des Hl. Leopold. Wenn Du weitergehst, kannst Du noch deutlich die Struktur des ehemaligen Angerdorfes erkennen.
In der Mitte des Platzes findest Du die Kirche und den kleinen Leopoldauer Friedhof. An der Rückseite der Kirche (auf dem Weg zum Friedhof) findest Du eine Inschrift "IN MEMORIAM MGR. ...".
Nimm den Namen in der letzten Zeile (3 Wörter), konvertiere die Buchstaben in Zahlen (A=1, B=2, C=3,...) und addiere diese, um B zu erhalten.
Vis a vis der Kirche stand früher das Armen- und Gemeindemarkthaus. Heute erinnern nur mehr eine Gedenktafel neben dem Wappen von Leopoldau und die fehlende Hausnummer daran.
Addiere alle Ziffern auf der Tafel und Du hast C.
Bevor Du den Leopoldauer Platz wieder verlässt, findest du bei der Hausnummer 7 die Leopoldauer Gänse und eine Busstation.
Welche Nummer hat diese Station (auf der Tafel mit dem Stationsnamen)? Die Quersumme dieser Zahl ist D.
Die nächste Station findest Du bei N 48° 15.854, E 016° 26.111.
Vermutlich steht das Kugelkreuz auf einem Pestgrab, aber vielleicht auch auf einem frühgeschichtlichen Hügelgrab. Jedenfalls findest Du am Fuß des Kreuzes eine neuzeitliche Metallplakette.
Die aus drei Buchstaben bestehende Kennung ist nicht besonders gut lesbar, aber die ersten beiden Buchstaben sollten kein Problem sein. Wandle sie wieder in Zahlen um und addiere sie. Das ist E.
Von jetzt an wandelt sich das Erscheinungbild Leopoldaus gewaltig, aber dafür kannst Du (wenn es nicht zu früh oder zu spät ist) bei N 48° 16.084, E 016° 25.935 eine Pause machen und Dich stärken.
Vor dem Eingang wirst Du ein eigenartiges Tier finden. Zwischen seinen Beinen ist eine Tafel, auf der rechts unten eine Notfallnummer steht. Addiere alle Ziffern der Nummer für F.
Weiter geht es zu N 48° 16.541, E 016° 25.916. Von hier hast Du einen guten Blick auf die Reste des alten Gaswerks. Die Errichtung auf dem Gebiet von Leopoldau war eine Bedingung für die Eingemeindung im Jahr 1904.
Im Hintergrund standen früher unübersehbar die kugelförmigen Gastanks. Inzwischen wurden Sie abgerissen. Aber auf Google Maps kannst Du sie noch erkennen. Von Deinem jetzigen Standpunkt siehst Du auch das heutige Gaskraftwerk. Wieviele Schlote erkennst Du? Die Hälfte davon ist G (eine gerade Zahl).

Die Tarnung ist schon etwas rostig, aber wenn Du in die beiden Öffnungen fasst und den Deckel anhebst, kannst Du ihn problemlos zur Seite drehen, um zur Dose zu gelangen. In der Dose findest Du einige Tauschgegenstände, aber bitte lass' Logbuch, Cachenote, Bleistift und Spitzer da.
The area of today's Leopoldau was already populated in the new stone age. The name Alpiltowe appears for the first time about 1.000 years ago. Continue your walk in northeastern direction to reach the Leopoldauer Platz. The Leopoldauer Platz is the former village green. Right at the beginning you see a pond and a statue of St. Leopold. On your further way the old structure of the village is still clearly recognizable.
In the middle of the place is the church and the small graveyard of Leopoldau. At the backside of the church is an inscription "IN MEMORIAM MGR. ...".
Take the name in the last row (3 words) and convert the letters to numbers (A=1, B=2, C=3,...). Add the numbers to get B.
Vis a vis of the church once stood the "Armen- and Gemeindemarkthaus". Today only a plague beside the emblem of Leopoldau on one of the neighboring houses and the missing house number remembers of this object.
Add up all digits on the plague for C.
Before leaving the Leopoldauer Platz you will find at number 7 the Leopoldauer gooses and a bus-stop.
Which number has this stop (as shown beside the name of the station)? The sum of the digits is D
The next stage is at N 48° 15.854, E 016° 26.111.
The ball-cross is probably above a pest grave, butpe rhaps it is a cairn of early history. Anyway you find at the base of the cross a modern metal plague.
The identification is not well readable, but the first two letters can be identified without any troubles. Convert them again in numbers and add them to get E.
From now on the appearance of Leopoldau changes dramatically, but on the other hand there is a possibility for a rest at N 48° 16.084, E 016° 25.935 (if you are not too early or too late there).
In front of the entrance is a funny animal. Between it's legs is a plate with an emergency phone number ("Notfallnummer"). Sum up all digits of this number for F.
Head on to N 48° 16.541, E 016° 25.916. There is a good sight to the remaining parts of the old gas works. The erection there was one of the conditions for integrating Leopoldau as part of Vienna in 1904.
In the meantime the big round-shaped gas tanks were demolished, but on Google maps they are still shown. From this position the actual gas works are visible, too. How many chimneys are countable? Half of them is G (an even number).

The camouflage is a little but rusty, but just take the cover from both ends, lift it and turn it aside. Now you can reach the box without any troubles. In the box you find some trading items, but please leave logbook, cachenote, pencil and sharpener there.
