Geocache Description:

Trussville Civitan Park.

The first Cache in the Grand ol' State of Alabama, and only the 294th cache ever listed on geocaching.com.

It was originally hidden by WJ ( (visit link) ) has been maintained over the years by Bubbacache, TheAlabamaRambler, and now by Wheresdib and the Dibcrew.

The cache is located just outside the Trussville Civitan Park near the foundation remains of the early-1900s Jefferson County Prison Work Camp.

UPDATE 4/1/18 After almost 5 years, the cache is an ammo can again

Update 7/29/17 Civitan Park is now open. You can park south of the cache on Parkway Drive at the veterans memorial obliesk near the cache. Enter the woods just east of the fence, stay east and follow the path north past the first two foundations. The cache is inside a trunk. Please cover the cache back well, we’ve lost several ammo cans here. Coords are a reported 70” off especially in the summer under canopy.

ALTERNATIVELY you can park north of the cache at the Parking coordinates at Masonic Park on Park Place. There is a trail to the cache just beyond the public works but on city property between Masonic and Civitan Parks. You WILL more than likely get barked at, but the dogs are usually in their fences and are tail waggers. Stay in front of the public works and continue until you reach the back side of residential fences. Continue south along the fence line until you reach the coordinates which are reportedly 70' north of the container.
