For fishing
enthusiasts, we gladly post this fishing proverb:
Wind
from the West, fish bite the best.
Wind
from the East, fish bite the least.
Wind
from the North, do not go forth.
Wind
from the South blows bait in their mouth.
Whether you are
fishing for profit, sustenance, or for pleasure, it pays to do your
homework. The MNR
keeps tabs on us all by patrolling the waterways verifying fishing
licences, fish species, fishing seasons, slot sizes, and also to
verify that you have not wandered into fish sanctuary
areas. It pays to know
the area you plan to fish in, in that you’ll avoid hefty fines and
penalties.
Here’s a little
fishing primer. These
are the most common cold and warm water species available to fish
in Ontario and Quebec waters. Which can you
identify?
