Located in the Franklin Fels Memorial Sanctuary in North Salem, NY. Cache is a camouflaged medium-sized lock-n-lock.
After relocating Franklin's Tower, I added another cache to encourage visitation.
This scenic stretch of land in northern Westchester is convenient to those in NY and CT. It is owned by the Bedford Audubon Society. Trail maps are available on their website. Park at PK on Lake View Road. There is no sign. But you will see a white blaze on a tree at the trail head. Step back into a land before time. The trails are a little rough for the first 0.1 miles. Follow the white trail, through a marsh, over a bridge, and into the main preserve. The cache is a camouflaged medium-sized lock-n-lock, located very close to the trail, so stick to them.
As for the name: it's a song and from an item found while hiking the preserve, which helps to mark the spot.
I'll tell you where the four winds dwell
In Franklin's Tower there hangs a bell
It can ring, turn night to day;
It can ring like fire when you lose your way.
Roll away the dew.
-- The Grateful Dead
Congratulations to jonboy for the FTF!
