Mile 44 is located at Prairie Moon Sculpture Garden and Museum. Terrain is easy, and difficulty is easy, as well.
This cache is placed in honor of Zuma's birthday. This is, of course, an ammo container. Herman Rusch retired after 40 years of working the land in 1952. He purchased the Prairie Moon Dance Pavilion. He filled the building with natural phenomenon, curios, unusual machines and personal momentos. In 1958 he built his first concrete and stone planter. Over the years he kept on building and adding sculptures. By 1974, at the age of 89, Rusch had built nearly 40 sculptures, completing his project with a 13 foot watch tower. He died in 1985, but his art remains a visual testament to his claim that, in life, "a fellow should leave a few tracks." The Kohler Foundation purchased this site in 1992 and restored it for the public and donated it to the Town of Milton for the public's use. This is a very unique site.
