Geocache Description:

Geologisches Naturdenkmal seit 1977

Der Aufschluß zeigt Bestandteile vom kristallinen
Unterbau des sogenannten "Ruhlaer Sattels".
Der gangförmig in den Glimmerschiefer (rechte
Steinbruchseite) eingedrungene Magmatit,
- der sogen. "Thaler Granitporphyr" (Steinbruchmitte)
entstand im Erdaltertum vor mehr als 300 Mill. Jahren.
Durch den gewaltigen Druck eines ehemals
darüber liegenden Gebirges erhielt das
Gesteinsgefüge eine schieferige Struktur.

*****************************
Geological natural monument since 1977

This outcrop shows parts of the crystalline substructure of the so-called "Ruhlaer Sattels". The magmatite penetrated corridor-like crevaces in the mica (known as "Thaler Granitporphyr"), which origined about 300 billion years.
The big pressure of the former mountains is responsible for the shale-like structure of the this part of earth.
