A cache near Bear Shelter, just off the Crest Trail.
I took a break at this location during my Tijeras to Placitas hike in July 07. According to Mike Coltrin in his excellent Sandia Mountain Hiking Guide, this shelter is allowed to stand as an emergency refuge.
The nearest cross trails are Bart's and Larry's from the east, and Embudito from the west. Do some research before going up there, unless you're familiar.
The cache is within 80' of the actual shelter, and should not be a challenging find. The challenge, of course, is the hike!
For FTF, there awaits the lucky cacher a brand new unactivated 2007 New Mexico geocoin. Keep it or track it, your choice. There is the usual swag and a disposable camera...please take a picture and let me know when it's full so I can retrieve it and post the pictures.
