You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time – normally a few weeks – in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.

Because of the effort required to maintain a geocache, we ask that you place physical caches in your usual caching area and not while on a vacation or business trip. It is best when you live within a manageable distance from the cache placements to allow for return visits. Geocaches placed during travel may not be published unless you are able to demonstrate an acceptable maintenance plan, which must allow for a quick response to reported problems. An acceptable maintenance plan might include the username of a local geocacher who will handle maintenance issues in your absence.

Obrigado

Geocache Description:

A minha 3ª cache!

XVII , tendo sofrido alterações no século seguinte.

A cache consiste numa pequena caixa redonda transparente, cujo conteúdo inicial é:

- Logbook
- Lápis
- Afia

My 3rd cache!

At about two years ago, when i had my first contact with geocaching i have been searching by some caches (online) and found one Almada's castle gardens, what i though that was interesting.

Now i've been surprised that the same cache no longer exists! As I thought the place was clearly deserving of a cache, i just put this one there.

The castle, today used as a Republican Guard office, was a strategical place to the conquest of Lisbon by the first of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, in 1147. His history is, somehow, troubled: it was reconquered by al-Mansur, in 1190, and finally taked by the king D. Sancho I in 1200.

Also near the garden you cab see the Santiago church, that was Almada's main church. The Santiago's Order insignias are carved in his front wall, that was erected in the 17th cent. and suffered alterations in the next (century).

It is a beautifull and pleasant space, specially in summer's late afternoons (There are a sort of wooden deck chairs where you can relax), watching the river Tagus slowly running to the ocean and the city of Lisbon right in front of you.

There are also a restaurant in the park that surely can provide some romantic dinners (followed by geocaching, of course! )

I've been informed that the restaurant owners use to close the park gates around the midnight. However some native told me that the park doesn't close. By precaution is better to you not to search this cache after midnight.

The cache consists in a small transparent round box.

I hope you enjoy the place!
