Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the Cranberry Lake State Campground.

The Cranberry Lake State Campground offers many campsites through the camping season. It costs $19 per night to stay there, but it's worth it to be able to explore the area.

A day pass (to do some hiking and go to the beach) is only $8 per car.

There are a few ways to get to this cache. I recommend entering through the Campground, as there is a loop (up, over the mountain, and back on the road) that makes a good trip. I have also placed another cache on the other side of the mountain to give you a little more for your money's worth.

The other route starts at a trailhead a few miles east of Cranberry Lake on Rte. 3. It is free, but adds quite a bit to the hike. (I believe it adds about 4 miles each way). The loop trip is only about 3 miles.

This cache is a 50 caliber ammo box, hidden not too far off the trail (about 150 feet) under an old rotten log. Once you've found the cache, keep heading up the mountain and past the summit for some great views at the lookout.
