This cache is one of the first in
Tajikistan.
The box is hidden at an altitude of 4890 meters (16300 feet) (MSL),
southeast of Lake Kara-Kul, on the mountain Ortobos as belongs to
Pamir Mountains.

Kara-Kul is a 25-kilometer
(16-mile) diameter lake, which lies at an altitude of 3,900
meters.
The lake lies within a circular depression interpreted as a
metiorite impact with a rim diameter of 45 kilometers (28 miles).
The impact event ocurred less than 5 million years ago. The
Kara-Kul impact structure remained unidentified until it was
discovered though studies of imagery taken from space.
Kara-Kul is almost 20 meters deep on the east side and 230 meter
deep on west side. It has no drainage outlet.
