This cemetery is located beneath the water tower, in Brandon, WI. This should be a good year round hide. My grandparents are buried here, as well as other distant relatives.
A few cachers have mentioned the tree near GZ. I was out doing some cache checks with my nephew, Mitchell, and he told me that this tree had a special history.
The bottom half is a native American Elm... but the top half is a Camperdown Elm from Camperdown, England!
English elms are resistant to Dutch Elm Disease. By using a hardy base and grafting an upper part of a tree, it creates a non-seedproducing variety of elm.
You can easily see the graft joint from over 100 years ago.
This tree is on it's last leg (or root), but is a curious sight to see.
