[Kilde: Frederiksberg Forsyning (visit link) ]

The historical P. Andersen Water Tower is a preserved building, renovated on the outside 2007-08 (visit link)

The water supply at Frederiksberg was begun as a private initiative of iron-founder P. Andersen, who first had tried to make the commune start a water-works to get fresh water for the community.

In 1869 he founded a water-works of his own in connection with his iron foundry ”Svanholm”.

It took ten years before the commune built a water-works at Godthåbsvej. Even after that the water-works and pump station of P. Andersen was delivering water to the eastern part of Frederiksberg until 1897, when both were overtaken by the commune.

The surface area of Frederiksberg is too small to supply all citizens with water, and therefore the communes Frederiksberg and Copenhagen in 1911 started a partly common water supply. Both communes had to get their share of water from the same places outside the commune borders.

Today the water supply is still administered together with Copenhagen, but almost half of the water the commune itself take up from the good water that runs under Frederiksberg in the “Carlsberg-ridge”. [Information translated from: (visit link) www.frb-forsyning.dk]
