Lostboy1966: A long, long time ago I could still remember how some caching used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had the chance my hides would help the game advance and the seekers would be happy for a while..

Archived due to concerns from The Aspetuck Land Trust. I hope that at some point in the future they realize how environmentally conscious the Geocaching community is. My thanks for the many kind logs from those that did the series.

Geocache Description:

A long, long time ago, I can still remember how that music used to make me smile

So begins American Pie, a song by Don McLean that was the #1 chart-topper for four weeks in 1972. The lyrics to the ballad have been the subject of much debate over the years as fans tried to interpret the historical events supposedly referenced in the tune. When McLean was once asked what his famous song means he replied “It means I never have to work again”.

Whether you like this classic rock song or not, be ready to study the lyrics yourself as a requirement to complete this five-cache series. Located in Trout Brook Preserve, it consists of four Standard Geocaches located off of the Green, Blue, Red, and Orange trails, each of which contains information needed to locate the final, a Mystery cache. To complete the full series, you’ll have gather information from the Standards to figure out where the Mystery cache is hidden. At each of the Standard caches you should take notes on two things:

The Number – Each of the four Standard caches in the series will have a single number associated with it, found on the inside of the lid. Once collected, the numbers are the missing coordinates to the fifth Mystery cache – they just have to be put in the proper order.

The Object – Each of the four Standard cache containers will have a unique object attached to the top of the lid. The objects are used to put the coordinate numbers for the Mystery cache in the correct order.

Take your notes carefully, then go to American Pie Series: Bonus once you have visited all four Standards for instructions on how to find the final.

Cache Notes:
This cache is mere paces off of the trail, between Markers 31 and 30. There is a trail map dispenser at N41 14.851 W073 20.393, and ‘You are here’ maps are also posted at regular intervals along the trails. Container is a Lock&Lock about 6x6x4 inches.

Nominated as a Top Pick from the Website in the 'Series' Category.
