The GPS guide
will take you through world dendroexpositions directly here in our country - Slovakia.
has been prepared for those who during their relaxing sightseeing do not want to forget geocaching. At individual stages you will be informed about the exposition situated around you. After your tour you will be awarded not only with the final coordinates but also with feeling that you have walked nearly all over the world. The route has been completed with some stages with interesting locations without needing to find out the final data.
If you have got properly charged batteries, you can start.
1: Rose Garden

The introductory coordinates will lead you to the beginning of your walk, the most recent exposition. In summers and autumns it is manycolourdly flourished by different sorts of roses. The characteristic panoramic view will remind you of the fact that you are still in Slovakia.

The coordinates will take you to the main entrance to the castle. Inside it is located "Ambrózy's commemorating room
". Above the entrance there is a logo with an inscription. In the middle of the arboretum symbol there are leaves and fruits of an evergreen holly (Ilex)
. Here you will get further values. Some ten meters in the south you will see a beautiful, impressive, sizeable Turkey oak (Quercus cerris)

3: Ambrózy's Alpine Garden

You can walk on admiring the surroundings of the castle. The most widely represented evergreen wood plant is cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus)
. In autumns you will be attracted by yellow citrus fruits of trifoliate orange (Poncirus trifoliata)
. Not far from the castle you will see "Ambrózy's Alpine Garden
" with a waterfall. The water is led here from the roofs of the castle buildings. That is why during the periods of dry weather the waterfall "sleeps". The building of this part was supervised by Ambrózy himself. Beautiful growths can be created by Japanese skimmia (Skimmia japonica)
4: Giant sequoia

The coordinates will lead you to a small lake which used to be dominated by one of the local oldest and absolutely monumental trees - giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum)
. On June 26, 2008 it did not withstand the gust of the strong wind.
5: Rockery with a stony table
- N 48°19.123' E 018°22.132'
About south-western edge of the original Ambrózy's Park is closed by a rockery with a stony table. You can have a rest here too.

6: Central Asia

In the southern direction of these coordinates, behind another road there is an area with an exposition of Central Asia

The view in the southern up to western direction shows you the exposition of wood plants with their home land in the Himalayas
8: South China
- N 48°19.093' E 018°21.937'
If you have not make your route shorter and you have got as far as a small lake with a balustrade you are in the exposition of southern China
. In the south-western direction you are looking at the exposition of the Far East
. Further on in the southern direction there is an exposition of the North China
. The view in the north-western and south-eastern directions shows you the expositions of Central China
, In the eastern direction continues the exposition of South China.
9: Central China

These coordinates will lead you to a bigger lake with a pagoda. You are in the exposition of Central China
. You can go on inspecting the not faraway alpineum through which you will get to the Japanese exposition. In the alpineum you can also see, except other interesting woody vegetation, Bower actinidia (Actinidia arguta)
= the number of panel pillars supporting the roof of the pagoda.

Another part of the East Asian area, where you will be led by the coordinates is a little lake with a wooden arbour. All around you are looking at a Japanese exposition
. Around the little lake there are growing groups of Simon bamboo (Pleioblastus simonii)
= the number of wooden pillars supporting the roof of the arbour.

The road up the hill will lead you along the Japanese expositions to the place, where from the position of theses coordinates you are looking in western direction at a little lake and the exposition of Caucasus
= the number of big boulders in a heap in close vicinity of the coordinates.
12: Ambrózy's Park
- N 48°19.114' E 018°22.283'
Entering the original Ambrózy's Park
you can go on in your observation. During the main season (May - June) the old park is in full blossom, mainly the azaleas and rhododendrons.
= the number of directions at the crossroads of the asphalt road.
13: Giant arbovitae
- N 48°19.145' E 018°22.354'
If you have found these coordinates you are standing next to a giant arbovitae (Thuja plicata)
. It has achieved its dimensions in a very interesting way. How? The lowest branches after touching the soil enrooted. Later from these, around the parents plant, have grown newer and newer children.
14: Šangala's Meadow
- N 48°19.232' E 018°22.375'
The coordinates will lead you to the north-eastern edge of Ambrózy's Park. You will find here also a shore pine (Pinus contorta)
. Not far from it grow some groups of English yew (Taxus baccata)
. As well you can see here a Guelder rose (Viburnum rhytidophyllum)
. Edge so called "Šangala's Meadow" (some scenes of Slovak historical film Adam Šangala were shot here) you can go to North American exposition.
15: North America

These coordinates will take you to the farthest part of the complex, to the exposition of North America
. At the little lake, the view in western direction reminds you of the Rocky Mountains. At the foot of the hill in the opposite direction you will find a hacienda. In the vegetation above it, in autumn you will see beautiful toadstools (Amanita)
= the number of brick chimneys on the roof of the hacienda.
16: Meteorological observatory
- N 48°19.387' E 018°22.250'
In about a western direction from these coordinates you will see a meteorological observatory belonging to the Geophysical Institute of SAS.
17: Decorative nurseries
- N 48°19.335' E 018°22.103'
You can see here greenhouses and decorative nurseries with their cultivating areas. Close to the coordinates there is a building where you will find another value.
= the number of brick chimneys on the main building of the greenhouses.
18: Malonyana arbovitae
- N 48°19.354' E 018°21.951'
These coordinates will lead you to the alley created by Malonyana arbovitae (Thuja occidentalis "Malonyana")
perhaps due to which its home park has become so well known.
- N 48°19.307' E 018°21.986'
The view of a little lake divided by a dike with surrounding plants reveals the Slovak exposition
. This area continues also in western direction.
- N 48°19.264' E 018°22.020'
Now you are an exposition which belongs to the more recent ones. According to the origin of the wood plants its called Korean
. On the western end of this area was planned also an exposition of the southern hemisphere (New Zealand) but it has not been realised so far according to the original ideas.
Small final checking:
Mastering the whole route you have covered more than 5 km and you may have spent about two hours. If you have been attracted by this "green world" and you wanted to see more, the tour and the time must have been longer.

Those who are more demanding are expected by the final. It is located outside the complex
and is in the distance over 1 km from the entrance gate to arboretum, along the road, watching the green tourist marks. (Please, do not take off the upper stone!)
Beware! Don´t park your car in a place with a bad view!
