Geocache Description:

Nascente dos Tornos Altos

This Cache is part of a row of the “Buzicos da Madeira” inside the Parque Ecologico do Funchal (the row will be completed step by step).

As a kind of bonus this micro cache leads to the birth of the water of the Tornos Altos. From the wooden sign follow the trail to the entrance and all the steps in the cave until the end, turn right, step into the cave and use the new spoiler images if necessary (there is no feather now). Flashlight needed.

(hanfri wrote on 14.02.2008: "The wooden sign is broken, and lying 3 meters down.")

Important note: It is dangerous and not necessary to leave the cobbled path. If you take the trail to Aguas dos Tornos from above (not recommended!) you have to add 1 point to the terrain rate.

another bonus. In this old map you can see that soon after the bridge the old Aguas dos Tornos meets the new Levada dos Tornos:

As we do not live permanently on Madeira we can ask a friend who lives in Canico if maintenance is needed.
