Geocache Description:

Hello and Goodbye is one of many caches along the Outback Way-finder Trail - the longest Geocache Trail in the world.

G'day Geocachers,
This cache is a lunch box sized container located near the mid point of the Outback Way and also in the centre of the MacDonnell Ranges - named after Sir Richard MacDonnell, the governor of South Australia in 1860 by explorer John Stuart. The Ranges run east - west and contain many magnificent attractions with something likely to appeal to all - gaps, waterholes, gorges, ochre pits, pounds, bluffs, valleys, peaks and chasms. The choice is limitless. Of particular interest to walkers is the Larapinta Trail - a long distance trail, 223km, through the West MacDonnell National Park. Get out those hiking boots.

This area is home to the Arrernte Aboriginal people whose traditional stories suggest that the landscape around you was shaped by caterpillars.

Activity: Look around from this magnificent vista point. Do you see any natural landscape features that remind you of caterpillars? Or other animals?
Beware of muggles as this is a popular vista point.
