Geocache Description:

Hie Shrine is a very venerable shrine, which was established in 807.

Every year on the first Sunday in April, the famous Yabusame festival takes place in this Shrine. Yabusame is the exciting Shinto ritual combining archery and horseback riding. In the festival, they set three targets along the 150m front approach toward the shrine. And a warrior riding a horse shoots arrows from the top of the running horse and hits the targets. The festival has over 1200 years history and is designated as one of the prefectural intangible folklore cultural assets.

We hid the cache along the front approach. Unfortunately, you cannot seek it during the festival. Visit here on another day. Enjoy a quiet and holy atmosphere in a Japanese traditional shrine.
