Geocache Description:

Geocache is located in the San Isabel National Forest in southern Colorado. The coordinates are: 37 21.405 N 105 01.418 W. Cache hunters should drive to the Cordova pass campgrounds from CO state highway 12. It's also accessible from I-25 near Aguilar. Normally the Cordova Pass campground is only accessible from early May to late October. The cache is located at the end of the Vista trail, which begins at the campground. The trail is a moderate .6 mile hike, ending at an altitude of 11,400 ft. and a beautiful view of the West Spanish Peak, Cuchara Valley, and the Sangre de Cristo range to the west. My extended family has been coming to the Cuchara valley area for over 40 years, and this hike is always a "must do". The end of the Vista trail is a natural turn-around point for those who just want a short hike to take in the views. However we typically continue on to the tree line at the base of the West Spanish Peak. Including the Vista trail, this extended hike is 3 miles one-way from the campground.
