Geocache Description:

Another addition to the series of caches taking you to locations for Doctor Who.

Something a bit different this time, up until now I have stuck to the locations used since the return of Doctor Who to the screens, i.e. where Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant might have been seen. This time I’ve gone back over twenty years, to the days when the Doctor travelled with Melanie, played by Sylvester McCoy and Bonnie Langford.

The episode covered is “Delta and the Bannermen”. Those of you who are old enough may remember that the seventh doctor was often linked with a question mark handled umbrella, well this was the first episode when that umbrella made an appearance.

The filming included the ford itself, Bannermen shooting the Doctor as he rode past on a motorcycle. In the meadow under the arch, back when this was used in the filming, the Doctor was pictured behind a wooden gate, but this has been altered to a metal five bar gate, the arch of the railway, is of course still visible.

There is room to park on either side of the ford, the coordinates below are just the side we parked, at the time the water in the ford was higher than was worth attempting to cross, but the ford was easily passed.

The cache is a 200 ml container wrapped in a black water resistant bag. There’s a log strip for signing and a few small swaps.

This is one of a series of caches based on locations used for filming Doctor Who, be the filming the latest series or any of the earlier ones. If you're near such a location and want to add to the series, just let me know so I can keep the numbers without duplicates and please keep to the naming convention of starting the series with "Who Was Here: ".
