SOUTH SANDIA SCHEDULE 40 #2 (IN MEMORY OF MOUSER)
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
Park at the end of Copper and start your hunt from there. Parking
lot is closed from (10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) This cache is in the
South Sandia foothills. Total hike is around 4 miles and is located
at 7500 feet. It's a 1500 ft. climb in elevation, so bring
something to drink!!
This cache has been placed (In Memory of Mouser-Chris) who recently passed away. I never got to meet him but I've had the privelage of finding a few of his "Out of the Way" caches like this one, which ended up missing recently.
Watch out for cacti year round. Mud, snow, and ice in the winter months and sun in the summer (Bring Sunscreen). The 40" PVC container is now gone and has been replaced with a 30 cal. Ammo Box. It's also a brand new cache, so if you found the old cache you can get another smiley face if your willing to make the hike again.
Mouser's cache was one of the oldest caches in New Mexico and I'd like to keep it going for a lot longer. It would be great if this new cache could last just as long, if not longer, than the old one did. Enjoy the awesome views in all directions from the cache!! Alternate ways to get there: Echo Canyon, go north from I-25, or a longer walk from Three Gun Springs trail.
