Former site of a unique 2-story enclosed slant-walled cabin with garage, topped by an L-4 cab, built in 1934, and destroyed in 1966. The tower as it looked in 1959. All that remains is the remnants of the old outhouse.
Although views at the top are somewhat obscured by small trees, the hike up will present views of Hood Canal, with back drops of Baker, Rainier and Seattle on clear days. Recommend hitting this one in the spring when all the wild Rhodys are in bloom.
Your looking for an ammo can located between a Fir and stump. To get there, turn off of 101 on N Hamma Hamma road. Turn right on NF 2510 and park as close to the end of NF 2524 as you can. Currently there are blow downs making for about a 6 mile round trip hike/snowshoe.
Caution: Wild animals have been known to visit this area!
Doesn't show to well in this pic, but Mt Baker was out in all her glory.
