The cache is located along what the locals refer to as "Old Howell Mountain Road". That's a bit of a misnomer since it is really just a stretch of old road.
Back in the early days of the 20th century (and maybe before) folks used to spend a half day or more with the horse and buggy coming from St Helena to Angwin (and beyond to the wilderness of Pope Valley) and traveled this stretch of road. We now mostly take the Deer Park route and don't join Howell Mountain road until we're nearly to Angwin and the entire trip takes less than twenty minutes. But this 3.1 mile stretch of paved road is well worth some time and this series of caches is an effort to get a few more people to enjoy the drive and views.
It is actually best by bicycle but only the stout of heart will want to climb up it by bike -- most of us coast down and load the bikes into a vehicle for the trip back up.
One caution is important. While there aren't many accidents here (just not much traffic) a lot of younger folks (and some maybe not so much younger) like to test their driving reflexes by driving very fast along this stretch relative to the comfort level of the rest of us. So exercise caution. You should be able to hear them coming from a distance.
You're looking for a camo'ed nut jar in the fairly obvious place so go get it.
