Raparapahoe
Falls

Raparapahoe Falls is a nice scenic waterfall and large
swimming hole, well worth exploring...
Getting There
From No.3 Road, Te Puke, follow up and turn right into No.4 Road
and follow for approx. 2.5 kms past the bridge to sign posted car
park, plenty of parking available.
Description
The cache is a .50 cal ammo can spray painted in my usual cammo
style and contains goodies for swapping.
This trail takes you down to the picturesque Raparapahoe Stream,
running through a narrow, densely-bushed gorge. The descent from
the road and the climb back up are very steep in places, so only
those who are fit and agile should attempt this walk.
The track, which was developed in 1987 by the Te Puke Lions Club,
drops steeply through mature tawa forest. When it reaches the
bottom of the gorge it continues upstream to a large pool at the
base of a 3-metre waterfall - perfect for a refreshing dip on a hot
summer’s day before tackling the climb back up to the road.
The cache is hidden in a hole in a rocky face behind a large tree
approx. 6m off the track and is covered with small rocks. The
waypoint should put you beside a tree on the track with a red
marker heading to falls and white marker heading home, stand at
this tree with your back to the river and look uphill. Please
rehide well and back in the same location.
At a guess should take about 1 hour approx. return, please allow
some extra time to explore this scenic spot.
Wearing good
footwear or boots recommended as track is very steep in places. Do
not attempt after heavy rain as this stream tends to flash
flood.
