Geocache Description:

Do you want a great walk in the woods with a wonderful view at the end without the long hike that most of my caches involve? Then this cache is for you. Less than a half mile car to cache along a fairly level trail. The Chuckanut Ridge Trail (also known as Dan’s Traverse), is part of the Chuckanut trail system and connects up further north with the Lost Lake Trail. You can download a map of this trail system from the Whatcom County Parks website (visit link) To reach the cache, take Chuckanut Drive to Highline/Cleator Road. The gate is normally open except for times of extreme snow. The trailhead is at 48 40.269, 122 28.335. The cache is located 8 feet west of the trail under a mossy log (helpful?) approximately 17 paces before the side trail to the viewpoint.
As always, be careful while out in the woods. This is a ridge trail so at the view point, keep an eye on the kids. Please hide the cache as well as you find it, or better!
