Geocache Description:

Eaton Tunnel on the North Bend Bike Trail

Cache is a camoflage ammo can. It is on the North Bend Bike trail. Leave Parkersburg moving east on Rt 47. Turn Left onto Walker road and follow it for 4 miles. At 3.6 miles you will pass the Walker post office. You could park in this area and add an extra mile to the round trip. Continue pass the Post Office to a rail trail parking area .3 miles past the post office. (N39deg11.0106' W081deg22.4250') The cache is 4 miles East of here up an easy grade on the rail trail. The trail follows the old B&O track that was fairly important during the civil war. You will ride right by the North Bend Cache so you may want to find it on your way. Stop about 30 yards short of the West end of the tunnel. As you face east there will be a prominent trail on the right side of the rail trail. Follow this trail and it will lead up paralleling the rail trail. You will pass the original 150 year old entrance on your right. A recent cave in blocked this entrance. The trail will fork to the left and cross the top of the tunnel entrance. DO NOT TAKE THIS FORK! It is high and unprotected. Once past the tunnel entrance the trail will fork again. Take the left fork and it will curve around over the tunnel and lead to an intermitent stream. Facing upstream the cache is under a large rock to your right front. Poke with a stick to insure no snake is enjoying the hide site. Search "Eaton Tunnel" for Ghost stories concerning this and other tunnels on the rail trail. Enjoy the bike ride.
