Welcome to South Arkansas Arboretum State Park , one of 52 beautiful, historic state parks, each with their own special mission. The other thing they each have is a geocache. This adventure is based around visiting all 52 state parks. Each park cache has a clue that you will need to find the final, 53rd cache located somewhere in the state. Just download the clue sheet and start your adventure. We encourage you to upload photos on the geocaching.com page when you find one and also to tell us about your visit to the park on the state park blog. As an extra incentive, For a limited time you can pick up an Arkansas State Park geocoin at the final location and send it on it's way to visit parks throughout the world!
South Arkansas Arboretum State Park Located adjacent to the El Dorado High School, this 13-acre site exhibits plants indigenous to Arkansas’s West Gulf Coastal Plain region and exotic species including flowering azaleas and camellias. Operated by the South Arkansas Community College, the arboretum offers walking trails, a pavilion, restrooms, and parking. It is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. except for designated holidays.
Guided tours can be arranged in advance by contacting the South Arkansas Community College, P.O. Box 7010, El Dorado, AR 71731. Phone: (870) 862-8131, extension 144. From Ark. 82B in El Dorado, turn north on Timberlane and go one mile.
