Vetrni is a small village less than five kilometers south of Ceský Krumlov.

The village of Vetrni (Wetern in German) was first mentioned in documents from 1253. The original settlement was the property of the House of Rosenberg who sold it to the yeoman Visen of Wetern in the above year. It remained the property of the House of Visen until 1603 when it was bought by the town of Cesky Krumlov and connected to its estates.

There used to be a stronghold which was reconstructed at the end of 17th century and used as school. Nowadays it is no longer used.

The church of Saint Jan of Nepomuk is the biggest attraction in Vetrni, situated in the upper part of the village in the direction of Frymburk. It dates back to the 1930s. Another one attraction is presbytery standing near the church.

Modern history of Vetrni is connected with paper production.
Ignac Spiro, the owner of paper mill in Cesky Krumlov, was forced to buy Peckovsky mill near 1870 due to increasing paper production. The mill was originally planned as to by used as pulp mill for Cesky Krumlov factory but only nine years later there were three paper machines installed there.
The plant became the cutting edge of paper production technology in the whole of Austria-Hungary Empire and later in independent Czechoslovakia.

Out the slopes of Vetrni hill (789 meters above see level) spanning over the village there is a education trail named Vetrnik.
