Strom roku
Myslenka poradat anketu o “stromoveho sympataka“ vznikla v Brne v
roce 2000. Poradani ankety navazovalo jednak na prvorepublikove
aktivity okraslovacich spolku, jednak na aktualni aktivity
regionalniho sdruzeni Ceskeho svazu ochrancu prirody v Brne, ktere
se aktivne zabyvalo ochranou zelene ve meste Brne. Pozitivni akce,
ktera by k zajmu o stromy a zivotni prostredi mesta pritahla
sirokou verejnost, mela slouzit jako protivaha spise negativne
vnimaneho zapojovani se do spravnich rizeni a boje proti zbytecnemu
kaceni stromu. Vznikl napad usporadat anketu Strom roku,
ktera vzbudila veliky zajem verejnosti.
Strom hrdina
Nedilnou soucastí ankety Strom roku, je udelovani titulu
Strom hrdina. Tímto titulem je upozornovano na stromy, ktere
s velkou statecnosti odolavaji nepriznivym podminkám zpusobenym
nezridka lidskou cinnosti. Jejich pribehy jsou casto dojemne,
jejich osud tvrdy, rostou vsak dal. Z nekterych mohou zbyvat jen
torza. I tyto stromy si ovsem zasluhuji nasi pozornost a uctu.
Alej Modrice
V roce 2008, na zaklade navrhu Petra Kourila (l3mur), ziskala tento
titul alej, ktera vede mezi motelem Bobrava a rickou Bobravou, a
tvori ji mohutne stromy lipy velkoliste (Tilia
platyphyllos), 250-280 let stare. Lipa velkolista je typicka
stredoevropska drevina, se svetlym a mekkym drevem, ktere se casto
pouziva pro rezbarske prace.

A Tree of the Year
The thought of making an enquiry to find the favourite tree (a
tree-darling) arose in Brno in 2000. The launch of this enquiry
picked up the threads of the activities of "adorning" communities
in the first republic on one hand and contemporary activities of
the regional association of the Czech Federation of Nature
Protectors in Brno onthe other. This Federation was engaged in
greenery protection in the city of Brno. A positive campaign that
would attract a wide public to the interest in trees and in the
environment was to serve as a counterweigh to administrative
actions, more or less negatively perceived, and fights against
pointless woodcutting. Thus an idea to launch an enquiry for a
Tree of the Year appeared and aroused huge interest of the
public.
The Hero Tree
Conferment of the Hero-Tree award is an integral part of the
enquiry for the Tree of the Year. This award is to draw an
attention to the trees that bravely keep withstanding unfavourable
conditions often caused by human activities. Their stories are
often moving, their destiny tough, nevertheless they keep growing.
Sometimes only a torso remains. Also such trees deserve our
attention and respect.
Alley in Modrice
On the basis of Petr Kouril's proposal, the alley between Bobrava
motel and the Bobrava river was awarded the degree of the
Hero-tree in 2008. It consists of Large-leaved Lime trees
(Tilia platyphyllos), 250 - 280 years old. The lime tree is
a typical central-european tree, with light and tender wood that is
often used for woodcarving.
