Geocache Description:

Oldest active Multi-Cache in the World and second oldest Cache in Georgia - Stone Mountain Park, GA

As THE OLDEST multi-cache in the World and the SECOND oldest cache in the State of Georgia and one that has been visited by many, many Cachers from all over the Country (possibly the most visited traditional cache in Georgia). Originally placed by Chris Reynolds and simply called "Stone Mountain" cache. Unfortunately in late Summer of 2003 the cache fell victim to some geomuggle and was potentially a permanent archive candidate. I left the picture of the original cache box and location on the website so don't base your search on trying to match that tree and that box. Just a little too sentimental to delete the picture.

I contacted the owner and obtained ownership of the cache. The cache has been completely re-worked as a multi-legged cache with a standard ammo box at the end (actually it’s a fairly large ammo box). I hope you enjoy finding each stage as much as I had trying to decide where to take you through out the Park. NO cross-country bushwacking is required for any stage. Look for well established trails where possible.

All past finders ARE welcome to re-hunt and re-log their finds. Heck I ought to even re-hunt and re-log the thing (just kidding!).

Unless you have an annual pass, admission to Stone Mountain Park will be $15.00 (as of Fall of 2016). Bring the family and spend the day. Walk the Mountain trail (take water with you), ride the train and the paddle-wheeled boats, visit the museums, the petting zoo, the antebellum homes. Most of all see what we here in the South call a "Lazer Show". For details about all of the activities and pricing in the Park please visit their website.

The intent of this cache is to entertain and to show people some of the little known areas of Stone Mountain Park. This hunt will require some walking and some driving. Successfully figuring out where (and when) to park will make the hunt either easy or hard (did the idea of obtaining a Park map enter your thoughts??? . . . they are free). The "Tour" will take from two to three hours depending upon how quickly you find each of the stages. Most of the stages are not wheelchair accessible and involve walking in from your chosen parking spot. I hope you enjoy this little "Tour" of the Park. Make sure you visit the other caches in the park to complete the whole park experience.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS PARK IS VISITED BY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EVERY YEAR. BE MINDFUL THAT OTHERS MAY BE WATCHING YOU. Lets keep them out of our little game and keep the clues recognizable only to those actually seeking them.

Occasionally I get a message from a cacher who is having trouble with a stage. Unfortunately, I have a life and don't monitor emails from this website. Further, the last maintenance was generously done by a fellow cacher and I have NOT hunted the cache since the last maintenance. I can't assist you. Sorry.
Good Luck, LostNfound.

Huge thanks to " talk2azs", "Night-Ranger" and "3eagleshigh" who repaired various stages in order to keep this cache alive. Happy hunting.
