Tunnen niistä vain muutaman.
Vaimoni asui lapsena tällä seudulla ja kun perhe tuli heinätöihin läheisille pelloille (nykyisin metsitetty), lapsilla oli tapana leikkiä kivellä. Läheisen kesäpaikan lasten kanssa he yrittivät löytää mahdollisimman monta kiipeämisreittiä ylös kiven päälle. Pojilla niitä saattoi olla jopa kolme, neljä, tytöillä vain pari.
Kivellä oli kitukasvuinen mänty ja yksi pojista kiipesi jopa sen latvaan ja huojutteli puuta peloitellaakseen muita, jotka epäilivät sen kestävyyttä. Vaimoni isoisä muistaa männyn lapsuudestaan 1890-luvulta ja hän on kertonut, ettei puu hänen elinaikanaan juurikaan kasvanut.
Luulen muistavani männyn ajalta n. 20 vuotta sitten mutta sitten se vähitellen kuivui ja kuoli. Pituutta puulla oli n. 4 metriä ja rungon läpimitta tyven kohdalta oli alle 13 cm. Naapuri sahasi rungosta palan ja arvioi puun iäksi noin 130 vuotta! Nyt kiven päällä kasvaa pieni koivu mutta senkin elämä näyttää kituliaalta.
Voit pysäköidä auton tienhaarukkaan vähän ennen lohkaretta, kunhan varmistat, ettei auto sulje tietä. Kenenkään pihan läpi ei tarvitse ajaa. Kätkö voi olla vaikea löytää talvella, koska kivi voi olla liukas ja jäinen. Ole erityisen varovainen, jos etsit kätköä sellaiseen aikaan vuodesta.
[ENG] The boulder could tell many stories from its long history. I only know a few. My wife lived not too far away as a child, and when they used to come to the nearby fields (now planted forest) to gather the hay, they also played at and on the rock.
The local kids used to try to find different ways up the rock. The boys found three or four, the girls only two.
There used to be a small pine growing on a lower corner of the rock. One of the boys even climbed the pine tree, and shook it, to the horror of the others who feared it could fall over! My wife's grandfather remembered the pine from his childhood (1890s), and he said it hardly seemed to grow at all. I think I remember the pine was there about 20 years ago, but it dried up and died, by which time it was barely 4 metres tall, with a trunk diameter near the base of less than 13 cms! A neighbour took a piece of the trunk to check the growth rings, and estimated the age to be 130 years! Now there's a small birch on top, but that's also struggling to hang on to life.
Access: You can park your car at the fork in the road just before the boulder, making sure not to block either road. You don't need to drive through anyone's yard.
It may be difficult to find in winter, not least because rocks can be slippery in ice and snow. Take extra care if searching at this time of year.
