Bud Gawlik aka 50Sumtin May 23rd 1953 - September 13th 2008
Bud was a friend to everyone and always very helpful he was a big part of the local geocaching community and a great ambassador for geocaching, he will be greatly missed, the following passage was written by CC and was read at Bud's memorial service by Touchstone i believe it says how we all feel about Bud.
So often it is not until their death that our greatest artists are recognized for their work. So many go unnoticed or unappreciated until they are no longer with us. With his untimely passing I am only now aware of the great masterpieces Bud has shared with us. Bud was an artist. His canvas was life. He brought great joy and enthusiasm to his work. He so readily shared his works with us and we greedily accepted them as they seemed to flow from an endless source. So often Bud painted his contagious smiles across our faces. You could not be around Bud and not be swept away in an almost child like excitement and wonderment. Bud left life long impressions in everyone he touched.
Only the greatest masters can make you love their craft by the sheer brilliance of their work. Every picture of Bud is a self portrait and in every portrait there is this sparkle in his eye. Bud put that sparkle in every eye that looked into his. Bud's brilliance will forever be remembered.
The objective is to find all of 50Sumtin's active caches ; this is not an easy challenge some of his caches require some tough hikes which will challenge your physical ability.
This challenge will take you to some of the most spectacular and scenic places the bay area has to offer.
The posted coords are the actual coordinates for the cache, it is located in Wilder Ranch State Park, one of Bud's favorite parks, but you can only log it by completing the challenge.
The playing field is not level and some cachers may be close to finding all the required caches.
