Town Basin Waka-bout (Northland)
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
When this cache was 1st published, there were only about 20ish caches in the greater Whangarei area! Now there are plenty of other caches now to encourage you to take an easy walk about the Whangarei Town Basin, so changing this from a multi to a traditional due to multiple mugglings. You can make this a quick walk & grab or enjoy a longer walkabout ...
...... with plenty of features along the way; many artworks among the new landscaping, the Historic Reyburn House with The Northland Art Society's gallery inside, a playground for the kids, The Quayside Info Centre & clock museum, several other studios & galleries, cafes & restaurants & the quaint Marina office building; Plus the everchanging scene of fishing boats, launches and local & international yachts to view... and of course quite a few caches along the way now!
From the secondary carpark & Eastward to the 1st stage is a nice big grassy, dog friendly area so Fido may accompany you & help out with the 1st stage. From the main parking area and playground & westward, it is a NO Dog zone.
This is no longer a multi! ignore the code-flags, though I have left them there to retain the original caches theme/history.
The coordinates shown are for the 1st stage, which contains the final coordinates.
There is one catch, they are shown in International Maritime Code Flags! Not to worry, as there is a small deciphering chart included.
The Final is small Sistema with logsheet, and should have room for geocoins or small TBs.
Watch out for muggles!
