Geocache Description:

Grünwald moor

Grünwald moor is situated on tableland in the Ore Mountains near Moldava. The locality is placed at an altitude of 840 - 860m. The peat bog is covered with dwarf pines and typical peat bog flora.
For example Drosera rotundifolia, Empetrum nigrum, Rhododendron tomentosum Harmaja, Bog-rosemary and Calluna vulgaris can be found here.

The rock basement is created on permian period´s volcanic rock of Cinovec granite batholite which is linked to common appearance of polymetalic ore veins. The landscape has not been modified only by vegetation.

Remains of the former peat mining are evident here. The peat was important for rehabilitational spa purposes.
The subject of the local environmental reservation protection is all biocoenose of the peat bog.
The average depth of the peat reaches 4.5 - 5m and there is a small peat lake.
The locality is quite inaccessible for visitors as there are no wooden pavements.

Grünwaldské vresovište se nachází na náhorní plošine v Krušných horách, poblíž Nového Mesta cásti obce Moldava. Lokalita leží v nadmorské výšce 840 - 860 m, a tak se jedná o rašelinište vrchovištního typu s porostem klece a typickou rašelinou kvetenou. Roste zde napríklad rosnatka okrouhlolistá, šicha cerná, rojovník bahenní, kyhanka sivolistá a vres obecný. Vresovište je významným místem výskytu ohroženého tetrívka obecného. Jsou zde také patrné pozustatky po drívejší težbe rašeliny, která se zde získávala pro lécebné úcely lázní Teplice. Predmetem ochrany mstní prírodní rezervace je celá biocenóza rašelinište. Prumerná mocnost rašeliny dosahuje 4,5 - 5 m a nechybí zde ani malé rašelinné jezírko.Skalní podloží zde tvorí prvohorní vyvreliny cínoveckého žulového plutonu, na než je vázán hojný výskyt polymetalických rudných žil.

Lokalita je pro návštevníky težko prístupná a chybí zde drevené chodníky.
