This day the waves were very beautiful to watch. But not good for swimming! Even the surfers stayed away.
Playa de Nogales/Cueva del Infierno is situated on the east side of La Palma. You find the cave on your way to the beach. The beach is 450 m long and the average width is 25 m. The surface is fine black volcanic sand and the beach is surrounded by massive cliffs and rocks that throw deep shadows as the day progresses. So if you want to be on the beach in sunshine, you have to be an early bird. The beach is equipped with primitive showers. Lifeguard service from July 1 to September 30, 11.00 - 18.00 h daily. Rest of the year and outside the above timetable the beach is unwatched.
The Atlantic Ocean can be fearsome, but spectacular from a safe distance. La Palma has strong ocean currents with powerful waves which can be very dangerous for swimming. Care should be taken at all times. When the wind is blowing you can sometimes watch windsurfers playing with the waves on Playa de Nogales.
So if you want to watch the waves, when the wind blows - Playa de Nogales is the place.
So if you are interested in caves - Cueva del Infierno is the place.
Geocaching at Playa de Nogales/Cueva del Infierno
For geocaching near Playa de Nogales/Cueva del Infierno take the Puntallana coast road north - turn off at the waypoint given in additional waypoints. From here you will see signs to Playa de Nogales. Se cords below for a large parking area for Playa de Nogales.
On your way to the parking area you will pass a viewpoint that is worth visiting. Se additional waypoints below. Standing at the viewpoint you are over looking the steep cliffs along the coast and Playa de Nogales.
From the parking area you have to follow a small trail for around 6-700m to get to the beach. Enjoy the walk to the beach and the beach it self. On your way down you pass a cave - Cueva del Infierno - which is interesting to visit. You can even swim in it!
You will reach the cache area by walking on the beach it self. Sometimes it is neaded to do a little wading to get to the cache, that is placed on a little beach next to the main beach.

Playa Nogales/Cueva del Infierno liegt an der Ostseite von La Palma. Der Strand ist 450 m lang und die durchschnittliche Breite betraegt 25 m. Die Oberflaeche ist feiner schwarzer Sand vulkanischen Ursprungs und der Strand ist umgeben von massiven Klippen und Felsen, die tiefe Schatten werfen, wenn der Tag fortschreitet.
Wenn Sie den Strand in der Sonne erleben wollen? Muessen Sie sich frueh auf den Weg machen. Der Strand ist mit primitiven Duschen ausgestattet.Lifeguard-Service vom 1. Juli bis 30. September, 11 – 18 Uhr. Fuer den Rest des Jahres und ausserhalb des obengenannten Zeitplans ist der Strand unbeobachtet.
Der Atlantik ist gewaltig und aus sicherer Entfernung spektakulaer. Die Bucht hat starke Meeresstroemungen mit starken Wellen und ist sehr gefaehrlich fuer Schwimmer. Es sollte zu allen Zeiten sehr darauf geachtet werden. Aber zum Wellenbeobachten, wenn der Wind weht; ist der Playa Nogales ein praechtiger Ort.
Geocaching auf Playa Nogales/ Cueva del Infierno
Fuer Geocaching in der Naehe von Playa Nogales Puntallana die Kuestenstrasse nach Norden - rechts abbiegen siehe additional waypoints. Von hier aus sehen Sie die Beschilderung nach Playa Nogales.
Auf dem Weg zum Parkplatz passieren Sie einen schönen Aussichtspunkt einen Besuch wert ist. Siehe additional waypoints.
Genießen Sie den Spaziergang zum Strand und der Strand selbst. Siehe Koordinaten fuer den Parkplatz. Vom Parkplatz aus muss man eine kleine Strecke von rund 6-700 m hinuntersteigen – Treppenstufen – um an den Strand zu kommen (sehr schoene Fotomotive). Auf dem Weg nach unten passieren Sie eine Hoehle - Cueva del Infierno, die zu besuchen sehr interssant ist; besonders fuer Kinder.
Sie werden die Cache-Bereich zu Fuß auf den Strand zu erreichen. Manchmal ist es neaded ein wenig Waten tun, um den Cache zu bekommen.
