Geocache Description:

Bonne chance !

English

With its Middle Age little streets, its romane church and its magic fountain, Saint-Robert is a village animated with the very medieval charm which enabled the village becoming on of the most beautiful villages of France.

On the plate of St Robert, some vestiges of an enclosure encircling the monastery of its romace abbey remain visible. The manors house and the houses with turrets were in their time the residences of the richest inhabitants.

The strengthened church preserves almost the integrality of its structure of the 12th century. The deambulatory formerly exposed to the pilgrims of Compostelle the relics of the saints. On the capitals scenes, some biblical symbols are engraved.

A natural Christ size of the 13th century, cut in wood, points out the intensity of the medieval faith. St Robert, city of the borders of Perigord, was itself the theatre of violent religious confrontations.

Good luck !
