Geocache Description:

Parkering is possibly at N56° 09.200 E 008° 07.175

During WW2 a large number of bunkers was erected in Houvig. They were part of Hilter’s Atlantic wall. After the war weapons and everything of value was removed from the area. As late as in the summer of 2008 4 bunkers which had been buried in sand since the liberation was found. Inside these bunkers most of the interior and some of the German soldiers personal belongings where found.

The Danish North Sea coast is at several places broken down by the waves and the shoreline moves slowly to the east. As a result, many of the old bunkers today can be found on the beach and not in the dunes where they where build.

If you want to have a closer look at some of the other bunkers in the area, follow the beach to the north until you reach the observation bunker at N56° 09.645 E 008° 07.060. Walk inland and then head south toward the P-site
