Geocache Description:

Another beautiful pond in Lyman Maine.

I thought that I would combine two of my favorite outdoor sports into one this winter. That is Geocaching and Ice Fishing. Both sports have brought me to some beautiful places.

My fifth ice fishing geocache for 2009 is on a pretty trail along Bunganut Pond in Lyman. The other ice fishing caches are as follows: first is at Cold Rain Pond GC1KFT4, second is at Worthley Pond GC1KGXC, third Horne (Pequawket) Pond GC1KVV0, and the fourth at Robson (Woods) Pond GC1M3WA.

Bunganut Pond is a beautiful three hundred twenty five acre pond with a maximum depth of 43 feet. According to Maine IFW, the pond has not been stocked in the last several years. It has had a population of brown trout along with bass, perch, and pickerel.

Fishing Report on day of placement: 2/1/09
No report. It was the kind of day when it was better to snowshoe around the Pond than fish.

Cache:
The cache is a ammo can with assorted swag. As of today (2/1/09), the parking area is plowed and can be accessed by most any type of vehicle. The cache is located along a trail near the water straight down from the parking area and to the left.

Directions:
Take RTE 111 from Biddeford to Alfred. Take RTE 202/4 on the right and watch for signs to Bunganut Pond. You will want to turn on to the Brock Road on the right. Follow Brock Road until you come to a town park listed at the parking coordinates. The park is open 9AM-7PM.

The Town of Lyman charges a fee in the summer to use the facilities. There is no charge in the off season. The cache is on the trail to the left near the water.
