Mijnbouw op Ameland?
Historie:
In de jaren 60 zijn de gasvelden onder Ameland ontdekt en in 1986 zijn ze in productie genomen. Door de omvang van de velden zijn er drie installaties nodig: 2 op de Noordzee en 1 op het land. Het grootste platform heet Ameland-Westgat 1, het ligt zo’n drie kilometer ten noorden van deze locatie. Via dit platform stroomt het gas naar de transportleiding die voor de kust loopt. Op deze landlocatie Ameland-Oost-1 , werken overdag 2 medewerkers en op het platform Ameland-Westgat-1 (AWG-1) ongeveer 10 mensen. Het kleinere platform Ameland-Oost-2 is onbemand. De mensen op AWG-1 worden elke twee weken afgelost en met een helikopter vervoerd.
Oorspronkelijk zat er ruim 54 miljard m3 gas in de velden. Met die hoeveelheid gas zou je alle huishoudens in NoordNederland ruim 40 jaar van gas kunnen voorzien. Een aanzienlijk deel van het gas is al geproduceerd. Naar verwachting zal er nog tot 2021 productie plaatsvinden.
Wat gebeurt er met het Aardgas?
Het gas dat door een boorput naar boven komt, staat onder een hoge druk en een hoge temperatuur. Daarom wordt er bovenop de put een kraanafsluiter (de Christmastree) geplaatst. Via deze afsluiter wordt het gas naar de installatie geleid alwaar de druk en temperatuur wordt verlaagd. Via een pijpleidingnet komt het gas in Uithuizermeeden (Groningen), 50 kilometer hier vandaan, aan land en waar het bewerkt wordt. Daarna wordt het gas in het landelijke leidingnet gepompt waarna het bij U thuis komt.
Mijnbouw?
In de Nederlandse wetgeving vallen gas- en olieproduktieinstallaties onder de mijnwet vandaar dat we hier kunnen spreken van een mijnbouw installatie.
Put Onderhoud.
Gasputten zoals op deze locaties voeren tijdens het produceren zand mee. Soms raakt een put gedeeltelijk of geheel verstopt door dit zand. Om dit zand te verwijderen wordt er een tijdelijke onderhoudstoren boven de put geplaatst. Men laat een opgerolde stalen buis met een diameter van 5cm en een lengte van 4000 meter, in de put zakken met daaraan speciaal gereedschap om de put schoon te spoelen en het zand naar de oppervlakte te krijgen (Coiled Tubing Services). Het is een complex logistiek gebeuren omdat al het materiaal via het strand moet worden aangevoerd.
Veiligheid.
Zoals je kunt zien staat er op de put een robuuste set met afsluiters. Bovendien bevindt er zich op zo’n 100 meter diepte zich nog een afsluiter welke hydraulisch gestuurd geopend wordt gehouden. Valt de hydraulische stuurdruk weg dan sluit deze klep zich en is de put op 100 meter diepte afgesloten.
Hoe te loggen:
350 miljoen jaar gelden was deze omgeving begroeid met oerbos. Toen deze bomen en planten stierven werden ze samengedrukt tot een bepaalde laag in de bodem. Mail de naam van deze laag naar de eigenaar van de cache. Bovendien moet je een foto van jezelf, staande voor het de informatieborden, bij je log plaatsen. Geen foto van het bord met het te mailen woord plaatsen !!

History:
In the early 60 gas was discovered underneath the Ameland Island and the development of the field began in 1986. Because of the large area of the field, three production locations were nececarry, 2 on the Northsea and 1 on the island itself. The largest platform is named Ameland-Westgat-1 (AWG-1) and lies about 3 kilometers away from the shore. Via this platform the gas flows to a transportpipeline. On this onshore location, Ameland-Oost-1 two persons are working in a dayshift. On the largest platform AWG-1, 10 persons are working on a 14 days schedule. Tthe smaller platform Ameland-Oost-2 produces without people on board. When the people on AWG-1 have finished their shif they are tranported to shore by a helicopter.
What happenes to the gas:
The gas which comes out of the wel has got a high pressure and temperature, That why on the top of the well Valves are placed (the Christmastree). The gas flows via this tree into the installation where the pressure and temperature are lowered. Via transportpipes the gas comes onshore in Uithuizermeeden a place in Groningen 31 miles away from here. There it’s treatend and finds it’s way to the houses in the Netherlands.
Well Maintanance.
Gaswells like the ones on this location are also producing sand. Sometimes this sand blocks the flowpath party or even complete. To get rid of this sand a temporary workover tower is places above the well. A coiled tubing with an od of 1,75” and with a length of 14.000 feet is lowered into the wellbore. On the botom end and of this tube special tools are connected to clean the well and to tranport the sand to surface. Getting the equipment on site is a complex logistic operation because everything needs to be transported via the beach.
Safety.
As you can see the wellhead contains a set of large valves. You can also find a hydraulic operated valve at a depth of 300 ft. When the hydraulic pressure on this valve stoppes, the valve closes and the well is shut in at a depth of 300 feet.

350.000.000 years ago this area was covered with rainforrests. The plants and animals were compressed into a certain layer in the ground deep below us, whats the name of that layer? Mail this answer to the owner of the cache. Also put a picture of yourself, in front of the informationshield, in your log. Don’t spoil the question about the word in your picture !!!
