Geocache Description:

this cache is located at the site of the indian centennial to chief Hardfish, who was the leader of the Sac and fox Indian village here at eddyville. there is a confluence here were the Muchikinok creek converges with the Des Moines river. in 1840 Jabbish P Eddy established his trading post here on the island between the river and the creek, to trade with the Indians that lived here.he established the town of Eddyville shortly thereafter. this spot is also where a draw bridge once spanned the Des Moines river. it was back in those day's the only bridge to cross the Des Moines river. many settlers crossed this bridge while traveling the Oregon trail. that bridge was destroyed by an ice jam over 100 years ago, but you can still see some of the pillars on the opposite side of the river. the cache is about film canister size take care to replace it as found, watch out for muggles and enjoy the view.
