Geocache Description:


A l'époque de l'Empire Romain, Buxerolles "Terre de buis" était située sur l'une des plus importantes voies de communication de la Gaule : la via Turonensis, voie de pélerinage vers Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. C'est un peu avant d'aller vous recueillir sur le site du "Pas de Saint Jacques" que vous ferez ce petit détour (à 50m du GR, et possibilité d'installer son hamac au calme avant de faire la traversée de Poitiers).
During roman occupation, Buxerolles (the land of boxtree), was situated on a real highway : the via turonensis, which was also the pilgrimage way towards Saint Jacques de Compostelle....It's on that way, a few meters before arriving a calvary where you can see the footprint of Jacques, that you'll find an old ruin. Reaching the cache will be easy...and if it's too late, you'll find trees for hanging your hammock....
