FI: Tämä on kaksiosaisen Koivusaari-sarjan bonuskätkö! Koordinaatit eivät vie suoraan kätkölle, vaan ainoastaan luontopolun alun infotaululle. Kätkön lopulliset koordinaatit saat kahden muun kätkön (Koivusaari 1 - Rouva Koivu sekä Koivusaari 2 - Herra Mänty) lokikirjoista.
Ounasjoen suistossa on useita saaria. Kesäisin ne tarjoavat kodin tuhansille linnuille. Ennen tilalliset toivat usein lampaansa ja poronsa saariin, joissa ne viettivät koko kesän syöden heinää ja pensaiden lehtiä ja lihoen ennen talven tuloa. Toisinaan voit yhä nähdä saarissa lampaita ja hevosia. Huhu kertoo, että täällä asuu myös keijuja ;)
Koivusaari sijaitsee n. 1,5 km kaupungista, valtatie E-75:n varrella. Siellä on pieni luontopolku, joka alkaa Ounaspaviljongin venesatamasta lähellä siltaa. Voit jättää autosi parkkipaikalle ja kävellä sillan yli saareen. VALTATIELLE PYSÄKÖIMINEN ON KIELLETTY! Jos tulet kävellen tai pyörällä, ÄLÄ KOSKAAN YLITÄ VALTATIETÄ! Käytä pyöräteitä, siltoja ja alikulkutunneleita! Kesällä reitin päässä on lintutorni, joka toimii myös laiturina veneille ja kanooteille.
Luontopolku on kokonaan helppokulkuista pitkospuuta. Tulva-aikaan jotkut osat saattavat kuitenkin jäädä veden alle. Jos haluat kiertää koko reitin, saappaat voivat silloin olla aiheelliset.
EN: This is the bonus cache of two-part cache serie Koivusaari (Birch Island)! The coordinates don´t take you to the cache, but the information in the beginning of the nature trail (luontopolku). You´ll get the final coordinates of the cache from logbooks of two other caches, Koivusaari 1 and 2 (Mrs Birch and Mr Pine).
There is several islands in Ounasjoki downriver. In summer time they give a home for thousands of birds. Before farmers used to bring their sheep and reindeer to the islands, so they could bring the whole summer there eating grass and leaves from the bushes, and getting fat before the winter. Sometimes you can still see some sheep and horses in the islands. Rumor says, there is some fairies living here, too ;)
Koivusaari (Birch Island) is located about 1,5 km north of Rovaniemi along the highway E-75. There is a short nature trail starting from the Ounaspaviljonki boat harbour near the highway bridge. You can leave your car on the parking area, and walk over the bridge to Koivusaari. PARKING ON THE HIGHWAY IS FORBIDDEN! If you come by foot or bike, NEVER CROSS THE HIGHWAY! Use the bike paths, bridges and tunnels! In summer time there is a bird tower in the end of the trail. It´s possible to come there also by a boat or canoe.
The trail is easy to walk. In flood time when water level is high, some parts can be covered by water. If you want to go the whole trail round in spring time, the boots might be a good idea.
