How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This cache is situated high up on the shore of Loch Ness. The final few metres are on a small rocky outcrop with a steep drop to the loch, hence the high terrain rating. Not suitable for small children or dogs. Please take care.

Do not try to follow your GPS directly from the parking area. Start at the gate to the field across the road. Follow the path a short distance until you reach the corner of the field and from there follow your GPS across the field to N 57° 13.401' W 004° 34.489'. There will be some tall grass and bracken to negotiate during the summer months. Just after the start of the bracken there is a very small burn to step over. Once at these coordinates enter the wood and follow your GPS again to the cache coordinates. You will pass by two small holly trees en-route. You may find it very difficult to reach the cache if you don't follow these instructions.

We have known of the existence of this location for about thirty years but have only very recently discovered it's whereabouts. Please respect the place and take a moment to think.

We have two other caches which can be done from this parking area - Stone Shelter which is a walk up the forestry tracks with great views of Loch Ness and Monster Drive - Fasaig which is one of a series of 17 caches around Loch Ness and is quite close to this cache
