We saw this quaint little area while getting some other caches in the area and thought this place deserved a cache of its own.
The wildflowers and grasses behind the marker here are the same species the pioneers found growing on the Iowa prairie before settlement began in 1836. Some of the richest soils in the world developed under prairie. Because prairie soil is so desirable for farming, only a a few thousand acres of intact, virgin prairie remain in Iowa.
There is some poisonous plants near where you can park, but where the cache is located. The path is very clear so it is very easy to avoid these plants. These plants should be very pretty come fall.
The road up to here is probably not passable by car - a 4x4 would be very helpful for this situation. You can park at the main road near the secondary coordinates and walk in.
