How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
This cache is in a new local leash less dog park. You don't have to have dogs to enjoy this park or Cache. Terrain is a slight hill, and not to far of a walk. Take your dogs and let them enjoy themselves. Muggle activity can be busy depending on time of day!
Travis Dolphin Dog Park was opened by the Governor of Montana, Brian
Schweitzer and his dog Jag on May 30th 2008. The creation of the dog
park was the result of an Eagle Scout project by Jonathan Crosby from
Boy Scout Troop 1947 in Polson, MT.
Jonathan started work on the project during the summer of 2007 by
organizing his scout troop and community volunteers to clean the tons
of scrap metal from the riverbank. This was followed by community
fundraising to raise the $12,000 needed to fence the park. He worked
closely with the Polson Parks Department and Karen Sargeant to
coordinate these efforts.
The park is named after Travis Dolphin a city water department
employee who passed away at a young age.
Since the opening of the dog park, a dock was constructed by Stefan
McCrumb as his Eagle Scout Project in the summer of 2008 and an
information kiosk was constructed by Eagle Scout Sam Boyle in the
spring of 2009.
Scouts from Troop 1947 continue to improve this wonderful facility and
ongoing maintenance is provided by the City of Polson.
The cache is a 8 inch long piece of 2 inch PVC with a glue cap on one end and a screw cap on the other. It is clearly marked and very well camouflaged. Is not in physical sight at any point! Please put back as found!
