This is a small roadside cache on a dirt road a few hundred meters along an old alternative route from the R26 to the Fouriesburg station.
This was a rarely travelled road running north south along the foot of the Witteberg mountain range, from the R26 between Ficksburg and Fouriesburg. The road has been closed by a private gate, now that the road has been deregistered, but this is just beyond the cache site. There is also a new gate quite close to the tar road which may be locked. If so, feel free to park alongside the gate (without blocking the accesses) and use the pedestrian entrance. It is an easy pleasant walk down to the cache. To get to the cache, park on the east side of the road, as you cross the small stream, where you will see a wire concertina gate. The cache is a few meters up the road. If you would like to take the time to walk down next to the stream, please feel free, but remember to close all gates, and do not approach the house if you have dogs, as there are free-range laying hens, and they are prone to becoming doggie snacks. The horses are friendly, but beware if you have dogs, as they may attack the dogs! Also be aware that cows with calves can be very protective. Otherwise the walk is very pleasant, but please, NO FIRES, and NO LITTERING. You may meet the goats browsing next to the river, they are friendly Saanen and Alpine milk goats, but beware the horns... They are inclined to join people for picnics. If you see us there please stop for a chat, as we would love to meet fellow geocachers.
