This cache is to help remember some of the places I knew as a kid growing up in Humble (HHS'72). If we had behaved, our father would take us to the Log Cabin Inn, which was a restaurant that used to be located here. It actually looked like a log cabin.
Their specialty was fried chicken. I'm not sure if they served any other meat, but they cooked up the world's best fried chicken. The crust was light and golden, and when you bit into a piece, you didn't get a mouth full of grease like you do at some places today. Out back, just to the north, they had a large garden where they grew much of their vegetables. To a child, it looked very large indeed. There were rows of corn, beans, tomatoes, and cucumbers which the restaurant would cook up to serve its customers. I remember the sign over the door, "If you leave here hungry, it's your own darn fault!" I never did.
Unfortunately, progress reared its ugly head and one day in the '80's, I passed by this area and the old Log Cabin Inn was gone. A gas station now stands in its place.
The cache is simple and easy. I just wanted to remember this wonderful childhood memory and let you in on it. It's just a film canister, so bring your pen to sign the log.
