Nachdem unser ursprünglicher Cache
"Villa Urbana" mehrfach durch Muggels angezündet und
inklusive der Logbücher zerstört wurde, haben wir nun einen PETling
an etwas anderer Stelle ausgebracht. Hoffentlich hält er etwas
länger; selbstverständlich dürfen nun alle nochmal suchen.

Urbana
Die römische Villa in Heitersheim ist die einzige bekannte Villa
urbana rechts des Rheines. Die Anlage war in einen herrschaftlichen
Wohnbereich (pars urbana) und einen Wirtschaftsteil (pars rustica)
gegliedert.
Ein römischer Großgrundbesitzer ließ sich im 1. Jahrhundert n.
Chr. diese Villa im mediterranen Stil erbauen. Das beheizbare
Wohngebäude besaß einen Innenhof mit einem 18 Meter langen
Zierwasserbecken und war von einem Garten umgeben. Die Anlage
bestand bis etwa 260 n. Chr.
Der Kernbereich des Wohnhauses ist mit einem Schutzbau
überdacht. Hier sind das Wasserbecken und ein Vorratskeller an
ihrem Originalstandort zu besichtigen.

"Villa Urbana" was destroyed and burned several times we made
an new PET-form nearby. Everybody is welcome to log (again).
About 3 km by foot from Heitersheim train station.

The Roman villa in Heitersheim is the only known "Villa Urbana"
on the right side of the river Rhine. The estate was divided into a
stately home (pars urbana) and an outbuilding (pars rustica).
In the first century AD, a Roman squire got this villa built in
the Mediterranean style. The heatable housing unit had an inner
courtyard with an adorning water basin which was 18 metres long and
was surrounded by a garden. The site existed approx. until 260
AD.
The core area of the mansion is now roofed over with a
protecting and conserving building. In the building one can view
the water basin and a storage cellar at their original
position.

Sunday and bank holiday 11.00 am to 5.00 pm
