An cache hidden on Osprey Island in Loon Lake.
Welcome to Osprey Island!
We tried several times to find cache GC1DZDH, "Duckblind," but were
never able to find it before the cache went missing. So, we decided
to place a cache out here ourselves.
This little piece of heaven is called Osprey Island. On it you will
find lots and lots and lots and lots of swamp and thick tangly
brush. You might also see an osprey or even a bald eagle, which is
why we haven't hidden the cache too far from shore so you don't
disturb much.
There is solid sand that surrounds much of the island, but at the
closest spot to land to the cache it is very swampy.
NOTE: Wisconsin has a LOOOOOONG duck hunting season. Check the DNR
website at: http://www.dnr.state.wi.us for exact dates. Watch for
hunters, or wait until hunting season is over.
Winter cachers: In the winter the local authorities actually open
up an ice road on this lake. This cache is ground level and will
get buried in snow, but it is a metal ammo can.
