This small cache was hidden as a Tribute to my Nili and our holidays together, we got our two years anniversary there.
There´re already two earthcaches around this area, but we thought to spot a small cache there to give something right in your hands.
The cache is insite the volcano, so you have to pass the tunnel to get in.
The volcano got a diameter of circa 1 kilometer with some nice pans in it. The ground of the volcano is below sea level and pushes the water up over the ground. So it´s possible to step into the pans and floate yourself in them. When we went to Pedra de Lume we´re just able to float ourselves in the left pan, which has a concentration of 39% salt in it.
We didn´t had permisson to get into other pans, because they told us, the ground in this pans should be to hot.
But when you get theren it is a must have to float yourself in one of the pans.
It is rumoured that it will give you luck, long life, a nice skin, which makes you 10years younger and gives you more potency. So men, TAKE CARE!!!
These are all rumours of the inhabitants of Capo Verde.
The cache is spotted at one of the masts of the cable railway system to get the salt out of the volcano. In former times the inhabitants used this cable railway system to get the salt to the harbour of Palmeira as fast as possible to export it. Now it´s not used anymore, but you can still see the masts of this cable railway system.
Take care while logging this cache. Visitors are all around you. I asked people if it´s allowed to step there and they said it´s no problem. So hurry up during hunting for my cache, take it somewhere else to log and put it back and hide it well.
You can find a small log-book in the cache with a small pen to sign it (maybe it´s not wrong to take your own pen with you). And there are three small pictures which show the area where [GCE] lives, to show the strange difference between Sal Island and the Home of [GCE]. Our home is in Germany, northern part of Bavaria, it shows our small market square, the townscape in summer and the country in winter. All of this was put into a zip-log. Please leave all of this in the cache (also the pictures).
If you want, you can also put a pic of your home or yourself into the cache and write the name of the area/geocache accout name on the backside. It will be nice, if your online-log shows some nice pics with you and the area of Pedra de Lume or maybe my cache. You can also post a pic of your hometown or area, online. I would be interested in it.
There´s a little bit of space in the cache. I think it would be a travelbug/coin motel, if you want some coins or bugs getting some more miles.
